Kanye West’s newly launched high school, Donda Academy, in Simi Valley, California has already acquired some of the nation’s top prospects, and class of 2022 five-star Zion Cruz announced his move there on Wednesday.
The school was reportedly launched to rival Sierra Canyon, and Cruz was the third player to announce they will join the team. He joins Jakhi Howard and Jalen Hooks at this time.
Cruz said he is “looking at a bunch of schools right now.” He said Memphis, Illinois, Georgia and Arizona State are some of the colleges he is interested in.
Cruz cut his list to Auburn, North Carolina and Creighton when he was set to announce his commitment in September, but ultimately decided to reopen his recruitment.
Before making his transfer news public, Cruz was a member of Hillside’s Patrick School, one of the most historic programs in New Jersey. The Trenton native started his playing career at Hudson Catholic before leaving for Oak Hill (VA), and returning back to New Jersey for his junior season at TPS.
Now, the top 25 recruit is headed to California for what should be interesting Donda Academy team.
