When asked to use one word to describe his historic three-year career at Manasquan, Ben Roy said, “unforgettable.”
In a game against Rutgers Prep at The Front Office Invitational, Roy went down with a knee injury, and he confirmed on Wednesday that he tore his meniscus and ACL, sidelining him for his senior season, and remainder of his high school basketball career at Manasquan.
“My senior season was a moment I was looking forward to my whole life,” Roy, a Boston University commit said. “It’s super unfortunate I can’t compete with my brothers.”
Just five games into Roy’s junior season, he scored his 1,000th point with the Warriors. The school’s all-time leading scorer is Tom White, with 1,680, a number Roy was on pace to beat.
“Manasquan has always been my home, ever since I was a little kid,” he said. “The support from my peers and community made it feel like the only spot to be.”
Over the past three seasons, Roy has led Manasquan to a 72-5 record, averaging over 17 points per game during the span.
“I feel like I have been very fortunate in my high school career, and my goal was to weave a certain path for all the young kids in the program to follow,” he said. “My teammates and I have done exactly that.”
