Team analysis: The Chiefs may have loss Isabella Therien to graduation, but they
are ready to build upon last season in a big way.
Cherokee has a nice bit of their rotation back from 2017, returning three of their
top four scorers from last year. Rising star Ava Therein has the skill set and
opportunity to make a big splash in 2018. Sophomore Kennedy Wilburn should be
one of the best underclassmen in the state this year. “She is athletic and a ferocious
offensive rebounder of the basketball,” said Cherokee coach Ron Powell. “She can
put it on the floor and attack the basket. She showed a lot of improvement over the
course of the season.”
Cherokee has enough talent to make a deep run this year. Look out!
Stat to know: Cherokee’s won its first sectional title since 2002 last year.
