Team analysis: For the the first time in 10 years, Seton Hall Prep wasn’t led by one of the Gibbs brothers.
For the SHP faithful, the 2016-2017 season was an up and down year for the program. Luckily for the program, the team will return as one of the top 20 programs in the state.
One of the leaders of this team is senior Alex Imegwu. The Ivy League favorite will have a featured role in the offense this year. Alex was always a strong defender who hit the glass with relentless aggression. What have coaches on the edge of their seat is his newfound ability to knock down an open jumper. With his feet set and a good pass, Alex can hit jumpers with the best of them in the state. Sensational sophomore Jabri Abdur-Rahim will also have a big year for SHP. During fall ball, Jabri has displayed improved footwork and finishing ability. The sophomore has the skills and opportunity to score close to 20 points per game this year.
If the role players keep teams honest, Seton Hall has the pieces to win the Essex County Tournament.
