Team: St. Peters
Ranking: 17
Record Last season: 19-8, 10-2 in conference play
Key players: Brendan Thiele, senior;Shayne Simon, senior
Potential emerging stars: Dimitris Plexidas, senior; William White, sophomore
Team analysis: St. Peters Prep had a strong year in 2017. The Prep logged a solid record of 19-8. When playing in conference games in one of the best decisions in the state, St. Peters logged a solid record of 10-2 against teams like Hudson Catholic, Lincoln, North Bergen and more.
While the team lost a lot of scoring and experience due to graduation, there is still a nice collection of players left from last years team. Leading the pack is senior Brendan Thiele. The Army commit can get hot quick and will punish teams who leave him open. Another solid returning player is two sport star Shayne Simon. The ultra athletic wing is extremely strong and quick, which allows him to guard multiple positions on the floor.
Add a couple nice transfers from the now-closed St. Anthony school and St.Peters should have enough to compete at a high level this year.
Stat to know: With a strong senior outing, Thiele has the potential to break 1,000 points scoring in his career.
