Team: St. Augustine
Ranking: 20
Record Last season: 26-3, 11-0 in conference play
Key players: Marlon Hargis, senior
Potential emerging stars: Travis Stoll, senior
Charles Solomon, junior
Team analysis: In 2017, St. Augustine proved again why they are one of the most prestigious basketball programs in South Jersey.
Last year The Hermits fell short against Don Bosco in a thriller 69-66. This team will use that as motivation to play at a high level this year and seek revenge. While this team won’t have the star power it has had in recent years, (Sa’eed Nelson and Justyn Mutts were both Division One players who are recent graduates) this team has learned by their examples and will continue to play the style of basketball that has allowed to perform at a high level. Seniors Marlon Hargis and Travis Stoll will lead the way this year for St. Augustine.
Solid coaching, strong talent and a competitive schedule will put St. Augustine in position to make some noise this year when it matters most. St. Augustine may not be the most flashy team in the state, but they are very effective. Be on the lookout everyone, The Hermits are coming!
Stat to know: St. Augustine was undefeated in Cape-Atlantic - American conference play for the second straight year.
