Why they’re on the list: They never saw it coming. Michelle Sidor was the best kept secret coming in the 2015-2016 season. After the smoke settled in her first game, Sidor had 38 points. Then 27..26..34. The true eye opener came against Bloomfield Tech. The diaper dandy scorched her opponent, putting up a sensational box score of 41 points, 6 assists and 7 steals.
Sidor hasn’t looked back since. In regards to skills, the versatile guard can do it all. Last year, Sidor displayed smooth ball handling, a solid jumper and elite playmaking ability. Her willingness to keep her teammates involved made her one of the toughest players for coaches to game plan for. In 2017, Sidor was one of state leaders in assists distributing 5 dimes per game. While Sidor is an amazing offensive talent, it’s her defense that has catapulted her into superstar status. Sidor was a relentless defender last year, nabbing 3.2 steals per game.
In regards to her team and coaching, Sidor couldn’t ask for a better situation. The tempo they play at allows her plenty of opportunities to create in the open floor and shoot freely. Sidor thrived in the offensive scheme, as her 27.8 points per game average was the best in New Jersey. Her team is returning a handful of key players from the team as well. After nabbing 2nd team all-state honors as a sophomore, Sidor has the talent and opportunity to not only make 1st team all-state, but win player of the year.
This year she won’t catch anyone by surprise. Too bad for her opponents, it won’t make a difference.
Stat to know: Sidor is on pace to tally 3,000 points in her career.
