NJ Top 25: #3 Hudson Catholic

December 8, 2016

By Christian Mordi (@Mordi_TheComeUp)

Team: Hudson Catholic

Ranking: 3

Record Last season: 21-4, 12-0 in conference play

Key players: Luther Muhammad, junior;Jahvon Quinterly, junior;Louis King, junior

Potential emerging stars: Tyheem Burno, senior;Danny Rodriguez, sophomore

Team analysis:  Hudson may have fell short of expectations last year, but with the team returning the majority of the rotation, HC has the potential to win the TOC this year.

Running the helm is “Fab Five” floor general Jahvon Quinterly. The savvy point guard isn’t your average table setter. JQ has a smooth jumper and is dangerous in pick and roll situations.

Junior Luther Muhammad is one of the best shooting guards in New Jersey. “Lou Banga” is a ferocious defender and strong rebounder for his position. In regards to his offensive ability, Muhammed is one of the most complete players in the state. He attacks the rim with relentless aggression and has an amazing mid-range game.

Mid-year, HC nabbed a blue chip transfer in Lou King. According to ESPN, Lou is a top 30 player in the nation. The talented small forward looked great in summer and fall ball. He is a matchup nightmare for many coaches. He’s great in transition, and when his jumper is falling he is one of the hardest players to guard in NJ.

If those three stars weren’t enough, HC fills in the rest of the lineup with top notch talent. Senior Tyheem Burno is a relentless defender and solid offensive player. Danny Rodriguez has a great freshman year, and is ready to build on that campaign this year.

HC has all of the tools to make a run for it all. They have the depth and coaching to compete with any team. Hudson should be one of the most exciting teams to watch this year.

Stat to know: “The Big Three” on Hudson Catholic (Lou King, Jahvon Quinterly and Luther Muhammad) are the only team with three Rivals top 100 juniors in New Jersey.
