Player: Taj Benning

Stats: 15.2 points per game. 3.3 free throws made per game.

What to expect:  2016 was the coming out party for Taj Benning. In 2017, Benning is going to show the state that his strong year wasn’t a fluke. After a strong summer and commitment to D-1 school Fairfield University, Taj can focus his energy fully on the big prize: A T.O.C. crown.

In regards to skills, Taj is one of the most dynamic guards in the state. Benning is a sure ball handler and makes great decisions in the half court. 6’3 and built like a tank, Taj is a bull in transition. Smaller guards are at his mercy in the open floor.

The system they run in the half court fits his skill set perfectly. There are lots and screens and backdoor cuts. The free flowing offensive system provides countless options for Benning in the half court. With the talent around him, Benning can really be a handful when he gets going.

This year should be a huge year for Benning and Bergen Catholic. It’s not far-fetched to think that BC can make a deep run and Taj can pull All-State honors.
