Player: Marcus McClary
Team: The Patrick School
Stats: 7.4 rebounds, 2.3 rebounds per game in ‘15/’16.
What to expect: The depth of the Patrick School is unique in a sense they will have the rare ability to compete with their first 5 on the court and off the bench. Leading the assault from the guard perspective will be multi-year starter Marcus McClary.
Pound for pound, Marcus has the ability to be one of the most difficult covers in the state this year. After impressive showings in the NIKE EYBL, where Marcus averaged 13.6 points per game in Peach Jam (including an 18 point effort vs Meanstreets, IL), and a successful summer league campaign which was highlighted by a championship in the Conrad McRae & Hamilton Park Summer Leagues, Marcus has distinguished himself as one of the top talents in the state.
Marcus’ versatility on the court is one of a kind and it has no limits. From fifteen feet in he has the ability to pull up from midrange, on or off the dribble with the best of them. When size won’t permit his midrange game to flourish he’s quietly just as scoring from the perimeter. His skillset will allow him to efficiently play the wing when the Patrick School plays big or play the high to low post when they elect to play small ball. While he’s a lefty, Marcus also has the ability to finish at the basket with both hands. Most importantly he understands game temperature, lets the game come to him and never tries to do too much.
Stat to know: Marcus signed his NLI with King Rice’s Monmouth Hawks this fall.
